Brainchild
Idaho Painters Guild is the brainchild of the three original female members of the guild. Ann Samuelsen, Julie Iffla, and Ellen Garrard. It resulted from a great joint show at several shops in the area of 6th and Main in Boise on a First Thursday in May of 2008.

“Bandanna Running and Walking” had a number of Craig Arrowood Plein Air paintings. ”Epitome Home and Garden” had several Ann Samuelsen watercolor and a few oil paintings. ”Ceramica” showed landscape oil paintings by Julie Iffla. ”Renditions Furniture and Accessories” store had a joint show that included flower arrangements by Kim Ynigues plus watercolor and oil paintings by Ellen Garrard; shown below.

That same “First Thursday” also had the Basement Gallery showing Fred Choate’s classic landscapes work for sale.
Based on the sales from this group of separate shows Ann, Ellen, and Julie developed a desire to pool resources. This was all discussed at a pool party at Ann’s North End abode. Below is Ann teaching Rog the concept of the guild via osmosis.

Actually, Ann taught Shantel, and Shantel translated to Rog. You see Rog was busy contemplating World Peace. He believes landscape painting and the contemplation of the creation using landscape paintings does work towards World Peace. Below he is demonstrating the technique for you.

According to Rog, he learned this technique from his Mother.
Therefore the concept of the guild was born. Since then Craig Arrowood donated several hours designing and building our high volume displays. Also our original leader and organizer, Julie Iffla, has moved away to Utah. We hope to have her back for a show here and there. Until then we hope to be happy painting, and wish to encourage you happy contemplation.
